Patio season is just about here, and I can’t wait! I love my deck. I love drinks and snacks on my deck. And more than anything I love all my friends on my deck (and really love them after many hours of drinks and snacks!) Essential items beyond the food and drinks for backyard patio parties include a comfy patio chair set, a stylish garden fountain for ambiance, a patio heater for the evening, a candle or five for mosquitos and a speaker or two for the soundtrack.
My favorite speakers for get-togethers inside or out is Ultimate Ears. Available in Canada at places like Best Buy and Staples (along with Amazon.ca online), the UE BOOM 2speakers have a great look and even better sound quality. No “tinny” speaker sound here – these speakers provide 360 degree wireless sound. UE BOOM 2 is designed to get wet, muddy and beat up with its go-anywhere shape, 15-hour battery life, 100-foot wireless range, and waterproof, dust-proof and shockproof acoustic skin.
The UE Boom app is constantly updating, and now has PartyUp where you can easily connect as many Ultimate Ears speakers as you can get your hands on, as well as Siri and Google Now voice integration. I love this feature! Though note that pairing devices puts you at the mercy of the wireless Gods so it does take some patience to get this working. Once everything is connected you’re good to go for stereo sound.
I should note though that, as awesome as stereo sound is, you definitely don’t need it to enjoy the amazing sound quality of the UE BOOM 2. We generally only use one UE BOOM 2 wireless speaker on the deck or indoors, and position it away from the majority of the group so we can still chat (because, this is 40). 🙂 We have more than one UE BOOM speaker because, 3 kids!
The UE BOOM 2 retails for $199 in the US and $249 in Canada (oh Canada!) but you can sometimes find them on sale too so keep your eyes open for that at places like Best Buy, Staples and online at Amazon.ca!
