In the past few weeks, I’ve been sharing more about the journey I’m on in 2017. You see, my resolve to change my lifestyle, my outlook and yes, my body, happened many months ago. Quietly at first, I figured that perhaps moving a bit more and eating a bit less might be a good way to start. So, I walked throughout the spring and summer last year, took more care in what I was eating, and the weight started to come off! By the end of 2016 I had lost 23 pounds and was ready, oh-so-ready, to take on 2017 with a renewed outlook and purpose.
Now is the time to take what I’ve learned and fine-tune it. To grow from it and sharpen my mind and yes, my body. I started sharing some progress pictures on Instagram, and the feedback has been outstanding.
While the recent pictures shared can make it seem like the change happened in a short amount of time, of course this wasn’t the case. What I said recently in an Instagram post is something I firmly believe: small changes can make a big difference! You just have to start.
In fact, when it comes to starting a healthy lifestyle, 40 per cent of Canadians are overwhelmed and don’t know where to begin. Simply stating, “I want to live a healthier lifestyle” like 80 percent of the country (it’s the most common resolution) can be a great statement, but a loaded one. After all, there’s a huge amount of information out there and much of it contradicts the other. It can become frustrating and, yes it’s true, it’s easier just to not start at all than to try and work your way through the information, find out what works for you and your lifestyle, and take the steps needed to create change.
One step we can all take towards a healthier lifestyle is to ensure we’re getting all the vitamins and nutrients we need to have our bodies working at peak performance. I have been taking a daily multi-vitamin for 8 months now, not missing a single day, and I know it’s made a difference for me. So, when approached to try Jamieson Essentials products in the new year I was absolutely IN! Yes, I said, I’d love to have Jamieson Essentials products to help focus and strengthen my healthy lifestyle resolve!
44 per cent of Canadians are unsure if they are taking the correct vitamins and supplements to suit their needs and a whopping 31 per cent do not take them at all for this reason. 61 per cent of Canadians agreed that when it comes to taking supplement they wish someone would clearly identify what they needed to take. Do I take a multi-vitamin and call it a day? What about all those other vitamins and suppliments on the shelves? Why are they there and am I missing out if I’m not taking them too?
With nearly 100 years of experience, Jamieson’s team of experts have done the work for you and identified Multivitamin, Omega-3, Probiotics and Vitamin D as the four products Canadians should take every day as a foundation for healthier living. These four Essentials provide a perfect foundation to baseline health, targeting your digestive, heart, bone and whole body health. I like this! I am going to start with a 21 day sample of these four products, and Jamieson Essentials also gave me some additional items with that “healthier you” theme in mind.
A quick synopsis of the 4 Essentials products:
Jamieson 100% Complete Multivitamins for Adults
60% of Canadians aren’t getting all the essential nutrients they need from their diet alone. To help close the gap, Jamieson 100% Complete Multivitamin for Adults is an easy way for individuals to meet their daily vitamin needs, as recommended by Health Canada. If you’re going to take ANY vitamin in 2017, I feel like a multivitamin is the way to go. But…there’s more you can do for a healthier you! Read on…
Jamieson Extra Strength Omega-3
40% of Canadians aren’t getting enough omega-3s from diet alone and that’s definitely me (I don’t eat any seafood, zero, none), which puts them at an increased risk of heart disease. New Extra Strength Omega-3 delivers an extra boost of omega-3 fats to support cardiovascular health (and they say with no fishy aftertaste either which is important to me.)
Jamieson Probiotic 10 Billion
Probiotics play an important role in overall digestive and immune health, as they help to reduce symptoms such as bloating, and aid in proper digestion and regularity. Jamieson Probiotic 10 Billion is a one-a-day way to promote optimal digestive balance.
Jamieson Vitamin D
A fat-soluble nutrient, vitamin D plays a key role in the maintenance of good health and helps support a healthy immune system. It also helps the body absorb calcium to build strong bones and teeth. Taking Jamieson Vitamin D 1,000 IU is an easy way to get your daily dose.

Interesting fact. I went in to two pharmacies to ask about supplement recommendations, with specific goals and needs, and found out very quickly that they certainly were not the people to ask. Meds sure, but no knowledge of supplements.
Just started taking Omega-3’s and they work great!
I so need to make this the year for me!! As a mom of 3 it seems I am always the last person I think about!
Aren’t all Omega 3 supplements made from fish oils? Now how does one get Omega 3’s when they are allergic to fish??
Chia, walnuts and flax seeds are all rich in omega 3’s
I recently inquired with my doctor about which vitamins I should be taking so this is a very interesting article to me. I completely agree little changes can make a big difference! I myself am striving to be more active and get my bum to the gym at lunch 4 times a week and will try my hardest to bike to work most days in the spring/summer. Hoping to see some change! You’ve done great, congratulations!
These are the supplements I already take on the recommendation of my doctor. I eat very healthy but it’s hard to get all needed nutrients from food every day.
Love this post!! as well as your commitment and how far you have come! you look amazing. I do am on the fitness journey and loving the outcome. I also take a Jamieson daily multi vitamin. first change i made!
Lots of great info! I currently only take one multi vitamin but should up my game and ask my doctor/pharmacy about other vitamins I should be taking l.
I take a multi when I remember but I always wonder if that is enough, and I do trust Jamieson!!
I am trying to make this the year of me so that I can make it a year for my family.
Interesting topic – I don’t know enough about taking vitamins and minerals but Im sure my diet does not get me the recommended amount either. somethign to look into
I currently take various supplements but my biggest challenge is drinking enough water daily!
This is something I think i need to look into more this year.
Thanks for sharing,i always take Omega 3 supplements
I do take Jamieson vitamins on a daily basis.
Great post and I love your results but I’ve only ever taken multi vitamins and I’d have to ask if any extras would conflict with the other medications I take
I’m in that earlier category – of being so overwhelmed by it all that I’ve done nothing. *aigh*
I use omega 3 with vitamin D included. Particularly useful during the grey winter months!
I definitely second the recommendation for Vitamin D — it does wonders for me in the winter months!
I probably should start ensuring a little more closely that I get the required does of vitamins and all that is good for me! I have tried a few in the past but never kept at any sort of a routine.
I take a multi-vitamin each day (and have for a very long time) but an interested learning more about other vitamins or essentials I can add. Thanks for the information to get me started.
I buy Jamieson’s vitamin D, calcium pills,and multi-vitamins.This is a brand I have come to trust.
I consistently take a daily multi-vitamin, but I think I’d like to start taking an Omega-3 one too.
I have started taking Vit D and Omega 3 and plan on adding in CoQ10 also. Supplements are so expensive !!
I’m taking two of the products listed, a daily multi vitamin and Omega 3. And I eat yogourts with Probiotics and Prebiotics. I’m missing out on Vitamin D though (although I just got a good dose naturally – i vacationed in the Dominican Republic).
I totally agree that it is important to make this year a year about improving myself!
I sporadically remember to take my vitamins :0 I’m resolving to be more on track this year, and I’ve just got a juicer, so I’m going to start drinking more of my nutrients.
I’ve been taking probiotics and omega 3 as well so good for f you
I really can be overwhelming to start making change. Helps to start with something small. Baby steps! Congrats on all your accomplishments 🙂
Thanks very much for this valuable information on vitamin supplements, I’m currently taking D and a multi vitamin, but will have to look into the Omega-3 and Probiotic.
I have started by adding some more fruit and vegetables but now need to add physical activity.
2017 is the year I get strong and more balanced. And my diet and supplements are certainly helping me. One that I was lacking in was Vitamin D. My doctor even told me to get out in the sun for 20 minutes a day without sunscreen. 😉
I think 20 minutes a day is a great plan!
I take the vitamin D in the winter
I just started taking some vitamins, omega 3 is one of them, great article.
