We’ve all seen the TV segments with beauty experts sharing the surprising ‘expiry dates’ on your makeup and tips on how often we should be replacing it. But did you know that your hair appliances have a best-before date too? It’s not that there’s any specific timeline for when you should replace your hair appliances, but there are some definite signs that it’s time. After researching these tips, I realized that yeah, it was time for both my hair dryer and flat iron to go, both of which I’ve been using for 5 and 10 years (OMG.) It makes sense that any hair appliance won’t perform as well as it did in the first year of ownership, and now I can totally see why I was really damaging my hair without realizing it. See if any of these examples sound familiar with your hair dryer:
- It rattles – I’ve wondered what that sound was but it’s common in the ‘engine’ of your hair dryer for it to start to break down, and a rattling sound is never a good sign.
- Your hair is frizzy when it’s done. Yes, I know many of us color our hair so frizz and dryness is common, but new hair dryers have technology to help prevent frizz. If you’ve had your hair dryer for awhile and this is happening, it’s not your salon’s fault.
- Your hair takes forever to dry. Again, new advancements in hair dryers enable you to dry your hair in a shorter amount of time. If you’ve noticed that it seems to be taking you longer to dry your hair, the dryer is probably at fault.
- You’ve thought about it and realize your hair dryer is more than 5 years old. That’s about the lifespan of hair dryers according to the experts.
Armed with a fancy, shiny, WAHL PowerFlex Salon Grade Styling Kit, my old dryer has now been replaced! Available at Walmart for $49.96, gifting this beauty product this Christmas means you’re giving not only a brand new hair dryer with a heavy duty AC motor (for faster drying!), but it also comes with a ceramic thermal round brush, salon style sectioning clips (I love these!) and two nozzles (6cm for shorter hair styles and 7.5 cm for longer hair lengths). The WAHL PowerFlex also has 3 heat settings (my old one had 2), 2 speed settings AND a cool-shot button to lock in your style.
WAHL has been used by professionals since 1919 and are Global experts when it comes to both men’s and women’s grooming. Wahl makes top quality, reliable products, and are a name you can trust.
Because I’m all glamour all the time, here’s a shot of me getting ready for yet another gala this weekend. Because the previous sentence is delusional (don’t believe everything a blogger professes about her life), here’s one of the 18 pictures my husband took of me blow drying my hair in an attempt to get a Beyonce-like shot. Yep, that was the best of the bunch.
My real-life-mom assessment of this product, compared to my previous hair dryer that I thought was just fine is that right away I was aware of how pathetic my old dryer was. The WAHL PowerFlex Hair Dryer’s motor is incredible, and pumps out a huge amount of blow drying power. My hair drying time will be cut down considerably now! I love the salon-style sectioning clips, they’re exactly what I needed to help get my hair dried evenly (I always had a portion at the back that gets missed). For just under $50 I think this is a great investment for yourself or a gift. Obviously, I kept this beauty for myself!
But, I’m sharing my new discovery…
We have 2 WAHL PowerFlex Salon Grade Styling Kits to give away to our readers! To enter to win, just enter your name and email address in the form below to get started. You’re in to win by then leaving a comment below telling us if any of the points in the list above alerted you that it’s time to replace your current hair dryer!
