What perfect timing for November to be Princess Jasmine’s month in the Disney Dream Big Princess program I’m a part of! My girls and I had just finished watching Aladdin on TV (lately it seems every Sunday has a Disney movie on CBC, much like when we were kids!) The movie (and last week’s, Mulan) gave my daughters and I a great base for some pretty interesting discussions about gender stereotypes, and how people in different cultures and families live.

Princess Jasmine has many great lines in the movie, but one I thought was great for today’s post is, “I am not a prize to be won.” Jasmine says this in Aladdin when refusing to marry by her next birthday, instead saying that when she does marry someone, she wants it to be for love.
