Easier Mornings Start The Night Before

While we’re only halfway through the summer, it seems that as soon as the calendar flips to August I start focusing on back to school (call it a survival tactic!) The stores are full of school supplies but I’m not ready to do that just yet. Still, if our morning prep for day camps are any indication, I definitely have to up my game for this coming school year.

Here are 4 things you can do the night before to ensure happier, more productive school mornings this fall:

1) Pack lunches – I really have to adopt this method and I know it seems like a no-brainer but I feel like evenings are also busy and sometimes at the end of the day I just want to indulge in some Netflix or chat with a girlfriend. However, packing lunch (or even part of the lunch like slicing fruit/veggies and putting them into containers) can go a long way to saving time and frustration in the morning. Plus, I can still watch Netflix or chat on the phone while doing so.

2) Lay out clothing – Depending on whether the kids pick their own clothing or mom still does it (I’m 2/3 for mom in this one!) there’s still an advantage to laying out clothing the night before. Not only does it save time, but it prevents time-wasting arguments in the morning about the outfits, and if your kids choose their own you get an early approval time (and time to make substitutions if needed).

3) Pack backpacks – One of my least favorite school-morning surprises is a note shoved in my face to sign, or a form to fill out (with cash!) for an upcoming hot lunch. Emptying and then repacking backpacks the night before is a huge help! In the morning, just add the lunch waiting in the fridge and the kids are good to go!

4) Don’t go to bed with wet hair. This is a bad habit I had with my girls especially. Pressed for time, it was easier to just brush a spray conditioner through their hair and hope for the best. Inevitably, this meant mornings involved combing out tangles and re-wetting hair to get it to behave because of awful bed head (how exactly do they sleep, to make their hair stand up like that?) Haircare experts recommend towel-blotting hair as much as possible to get rid of excess water and cut down on how long heat is applied to the hair. They also suggest using a blow dryer that features ceramic, ionic and tourmaline technology which will also cut down on time.

Kiss Tornado DryerThe KISS Tornado 360° 1875W Ionic Dryer is available at Walmart right now for $29.96 and should be included in your back to school shopping! With use of the patent pending 360° rotating air booster, the KISS Tornado 360° will cover 4x the surface area of a conventional dryer, preventing spot heat damage to the hair. The even heat distribution also lessens the need to shake the dryer, giving you a more comfortable drying experience.

Features:

3 temperature levels
2 airflow levels
Bonus air concentrator for conventional, concentrated styling
Patent-Pending 360° Rotating Air Booster
Ceramic Tourmaline Technology – Allows for longer-lasting frizz-free results

Blow drying hair before bed takes a few minutes, but if the kids go to bed with clean, dry, smooth hair, that will hopefully mean an easier ‘do in the morning. I’m all for easy mornings.
