With Father’s Day just around the corner, I know I should really tailor this post towards gifts for dad and I suppose that’s true but let me tell you something – the latest kitchen appliance through our doors has made our kitchen a very happy place so this mom is embracing it (no joke, I hugged it) as mine too. But if you want to buy it for him, I suppose that’s a win-win situation, the gift is perfect and everyone gets to enjoy it.

This father’s day gift (yeah, I totally said it was a gift for my husband!) came at the perfect time as I was looking at grinding my own coffee beans, for use in my single-cup brewer. I love single-cup brewers, but I also like having a pot of coffee ready to go especially on weekends with my husband, especially out on the deck on a sunny morning! We achieved all my ‘likes’ this weekend with the Breville Grind Control. I am certainly a coffee bean novice and am learning about grind control options and how it impacts the taste of my coffee.
I like that you can also use regular ground coffee in this brewer and make as little or as much as you want. Again, I’m back to the learning curve of how many scoops are needed to perfect the perfect pot of coffee, but I’m enjoying going back to my coffee roots – beans, grinds, and pouring another steaming cup.
Two points to note before purchasing – 1) Breville The Grind Control is a tall machine and didn’t fit under my cupboards. I noted a machine for sale on Kijiji for this same reason, so it’s worth checking to see if its 17″ height will be an issue. In my case, I was able to place it on a space on my counter with no cupboard above. 2) The 12-cup double-wall stainless steel thermal carafe keeps your coffee warm, but there’s no warmer below it on the machine. So, you can carry the carafe outside on the deck to refill coffee as needed, as keeping it placed on the machine doesn’t keep it warm.
We’re happy with our newest kitchen appliance – I mean, my husband is happy with his Father’s Day gift, because this review is all about gifts for him. 😉
