The older I get, the better I become at eating healthy and trying new foods.. I eat better, more likely by default when I discover, for example, that my french fry addiction and my metabolism no longer get along. I am interested in trying new foods when I realize that one can not live on coffee alone. So whether by being forced into it by default or by healthy and super-smart decision, eating healthy is the way to go as we age. Ugh, yeah I said it.
Driven by a need to cut back on calories and find creative alternatives for cooking, I’ll often add Silk Almond to smoothies, cereals and sometimes baking. When I heard that Silk had something new to share in Canada – Silk Creamy Cashew, it became my mission to find it. It turns out, because it’s so new on the market you may have a bit of a hunt like I did. If you’re in Western Canada, try the natural foods dairy section at Real Canadian Superstore locations – that’s where it was waiting for me, that sneaky little cashew goodness in a carton!
I add Silk Creamy Cashew to my coffee (which – hooray for me – I’ve worked my way down to Silk only from double sugar double cream a year ago!) but we’ve also tried it in pancakes with fantastic results. While definitely creamy and nutty flavored, the taste isn’t overpowering and you can add it to your cooking and baking for a creamier flavor with 33% fewer calories than skim milk (which, as we know, just doesn’t give you that creamy flavor in recipes). Make your recipes for ice cream, mashed potatoes and soups creamier with Silk Creamy Cashew!
Reasons to love Silk Creamy Cashew:
~ 33% fewer calories than skim milk
~ Has the same amount of calcium as dairy milk
~ Excellent source of calcium and vitamin D
~ Contains no dairy, soy, lactose, gluten, casein, egg or MSG
