That almost looks like sweet poutine, doesn’t it? But alas, I’m talking about the glorious return to routine that comes with the fall each year. Whether or not you have kids in school – which surely signifies a return to routine – fall brings everyone back to the structure of routine after a carefree summer. A teacher-friend of mine said that she thinks it takes until the second or third week of October for that routine to really set in, for kids to shake off the summer excitement and get their sleeping patterns figured out. I am inclined to agree!
As a P&G Mom, I received a lovely package of products to help me get back to my routine. It was one of those product boxes that – if my daughters were teens – would bring a debate on who gets what. Fortunately for me, they’re still to young to enjoy them so they were all mine!
Some of my favorite products in the box included COVERGIRL + Olay The De-Puffer Eye Concealer (seriously, babies or elementary school kids, tell me what mom gets enough sleep with children of any age?!), COVERGIRL Ready, Set Gorgeous Concealer and COVERGIRL Ready, Set Gorgeous Liquid Foundation – COVERGIRL has never let me down in terms of product quality and these products performed well. I especially liked the cooling tip applicator of the De-Puffer Eye Concealer, which certainly helps with puffiness.
Since my daughters were too young to share with, I did pass along Olay Fresh Effects {Acne Control Scrub!} Salicylic Acid Acne and Blackhead Clearing Scrub and Fresh Effects {Dew Over!} Hydrating Gel Moisturizer to our babysitter who is thirteen.
Getting back to routine is definitely worth it, though I know it’s a struggle for all families in those first few weeks. Having some new products to help makes it a lot easier – sometimes just a new makeup product, face wash, body wash or perfume is just what it takes to lift our mood and help us get our day started.
I know this will lift the mood of one lucky reader – take a look at the amazing giveaway we have from P&G below!

Its easy to get in a routine when school start …homework ..bed time ..
It came on us too quick this year…this year is harder since i’m homeschooling my daughter and my son is in school still. We just make a lot of use of calendars.
Go back to our bedtime routines, making lunches before bed time etc.
There is really no change in routine, I keep the kids bedtime the same through the week in the summer so we pretty much keep it the same year round
This was the first year that we had to get into a routine starting in September. My oldest just started JK, so it was a big change from getting to laze around and play all morning!

Routines are definitely important, especially for the little ones. My five are older now and have settled into their own routines, if you know what I mean. When the time changes in the Fall, that can wreak havoc for my teens who seem to require all day sleep, but other than that, we are turning up the heat and looking for all the winter gear!! 🙂

I do a major fall cleaning and get rid sort through all closets and toys.
Oh Lord Help us, we really dont. The calendar runs us so I guess our routine is driven by this. We have to write every little thing down or we’d be sunk. Even then, we feel like we are just spinning our wheels and forgetting many things til last minute. Oh…it’s just the nature of the beast with active lives and kids. The wind down happens so little. I despise winter BUT that is at least our slowest time of year (after the Holidays at least), that is when we regroup and can let go of the activities routine and get back into a FAMILY routine. Eating meals together, not having to run out every night or weekend, being able to do projects, playing card games, etc. the good stuff.:)
