I am notoriously hard on my laptop computers. Over the years, and especially in the last 6 that I have been blogging, I go through a computer every 2 years or so, almost exactly to the date. I started out with those laptop computers that you can order online and get phone-service for tech help that’s more frustrating than useful (I’m sure you know the brand!) and my 2-year usage was pretty standard. Then, right before Christmas in 2010 I switched brands and purchased my first HP notebook computer. My G72 (which is probably ancient according to today’s versions) is still being used today over 3 years later! 3 years! That means just by switching brands I’ve added another full year of use to my laptop!
As 3 full years have passed, technology has of course increased in that time and while I love my trusty G72, I had fallen in love with another. Last year, I received a gorgeous HP ENVY Rove computer to review and use it in my home-office almost every day. I love the touch-screen capabilities and how versatile the entire product as a whole is. I envied (heh) that in my laptop computer.
Many HP notebooks are available to choose from, but most literally didn’t measure up. After using a 17″ monitor for the past 3 years there was no way I could go back to a 15″ or 13″ laptop screen. I love the large screen and can’t imagine working without it. And so, because HP Canada is so amazing, they happily sent me the ENVY TouchSmart 17 Notebook PC (MRSP $1249.99) for my very own!

I’m so looking forward to really diving in to my new HP ENVY TouchSmart 17 and seeing everything it’s capable of! But first, I have to figure out a way to tell my loyal soldier G72 that we need to part ways. He will have a happy home with my son (and endless hours of Minecraft to be played I’m sure).

Sounds like a great laptop! I’m still using the same laptop I’ve had for 7 or maybe even 8 years now. And talk about being hard on it. This thing has been through a lot but still semi functions….not sure how but it somehow does. I’d love to be able to replace it with one that’s a few years newer but for now that’s not in the cards so until this one totally goes kaput I’ll have to live with it.
