One of the things I looked forward to, when my first daughter was born in 2007, was all the fun “girly” things we would be able to do together. Among those things, for me, was playing Barbies and introducing her to the Barbie world. As a little girl, playing with my Barbies was probably one of my favorite past times; I’ve posted in the past about the love I had for my Barbie Motor Home and Barbie Mansion! Of course, I could have never predicted the technology we have today and now moms and girls can take their love of Barbie online together!
The Barbie My Dreams site is much like the Pinterest site mom is constantly pinning recipes and decor ideas to, except that in this case mom and daughters can post their favorite Barbie images! The site is secure with a user name and password needed along with a parent’s email address to activate. Once an account is set up (which takes 30 seconds), your little girls can pin away just like mom does and create some fantastic boards.
This is a screenshot of our Barbie My Dreams DreamBoard so far. Nevaeh has a big love for mermaids right now and her pins reflect that. The images are all available right on the site and added by her friends Barbie, Ken, Teresa and Racquelle, how cool! There are also some great Barbie Games on the site to occupy her when she’s done pinning her favorites from that day .

I love that Barbies can be played with for such a long time, age wise. My oldest started playing Barbies at 3 (meaning my younger 2 have pretty well always played barbies. I didn’t stop playing with barbies until I was 13/14 although that was more styling their hair and clothes by that age. I really think Barbie inspires creativity too!

I never had a Barbie but my younger sister did. I loved designing and sewing clothes for her doll and when my mom sewed I would gather up the scraps and make them into Barbie outfits. My sister loved them all and she still has the dolls and clothes I made. Her girls played with Barbie and the clothes and now they are put away for when she has a granddaughter. I like Barbie because she has been popular through so many generations.
