Say Vello This Holiday Season

Say Vello to your family and friends this holiday season! Yes, I typed that correctly – it’s Vello and here’s what you need to know about it!

Vello is an app that enables you to record a video greeting to send to anyone you wish.  Beyond that, though, Vello also gives you the ability to create group-greetings!  First, you record your greeting, then you can invite your friends from right within the app itself to create greetings of their own.  Vello then does all the fancy work of stitching everything together in one neat little package (minus the bow!)

Have you ever purchased an e-gift card online as a gift, and then had to send the person an awkward email saying “So hey, Happy Birthday, be on the look out for an email about uh…something”?  I had that exact scenario when I bought a Chapters gift card online for my nephew for his birthday last month.  While hugely convenient and easy, it lacked that personal touch.

This is where Vello really excels.  Because Vello is brought to you by the same people who created CardSwap.ca, after you’ve recorded your fabulous single greeting or outstanding group greeting, you can then attach a gift card right within the App as well!  (I first brought readers info on CardSwap back in 2009 and then shared an update to the program last year here!)

Personalized greeting + gift card = best (insert choice of sister, brother, son, daughter, coworker, aunt, BFF) ever!

I can see a lot of potential for this app.  Think of greetings for your family over the holidays far from home.  Or the kids creating a greeting and gift card for the grandparents.  Later next year, a greeting from everyone at the office to a colleague out sick, or a congratulations group greeting for a friend’s engagement announcement.  The potential is there to use Vello to create some super fun and personalized greetings and the gift card gives you a one-stop-shop spot in our busy hectic lives.

Here’s my super quick Vello greeting to show you all just how easy it is.  I downloaded the App and created the greeting immediately!  One caveat, ensure you say YES to accessing your Contacts when given the prompt.  I said no and can’t find a way to access my Contacts from within the App now.  You can also use your Facebook or Twitter contacts.
