I have huge envy for crafty people. The owners of Etsy stores, those who sit at tables at craft sales sharing their creativity and skill have my utmost respect. I simply do not have that gene, and so far my kids don’t show much promise either!
With the holidays upon us, those crafty people are hard at work like little elves creating beautiful pieces to gift to family and friends. Feeling left out? There’s no need to – there are many simple ways you too can give the gift of homemade, without turning your house or kitchen upside down in the process.
One very easy treat that I make with the kids for the holidays is chocolate dipped pretzels! The combination of salty and sweet is delicious and with just a few simple ingredients you can create perfectly themed treats for class parties, teacher gifts, surprises for the babysitter or even just to nibble on at home to celebrate the season.
These holiday pretzels take no time at all! Simply melt the chocolate in the microwave stirring every 20 seconds, or use the method I prefer which is a double boiler on the stove (that way the chocolate stays nicely melted the whole time). Then, dip the pretzels in one by one and either roll in coloured sugar or sprinkle on, depending on how much decoration you want. Then, allow to set on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. That’s it! Kids love dipping the pretzels (to ensure safety you can scoop spoonfuls of chocolate from the double boiler into a bowl) and decorating them is easy – anything goes!
You can look at the local dollar store for a glass, mug, or other holiday themed item to package the pretzels in. Another idea is coloured cellophane bags with ribbon!
The kids love bringing these treats to school during the holidays, though I have to admit, sometimes we have to make a double-batch because they don’t last very long in our household!
The point is, regardless of what you create as a homemade gift or special touch this holiday season, you don’t have to be a craft or baking expert. What makes homemade so special is the fact that it’s perfectly imperfect. I’m willing to bet that the recipient of such a gift adores it!
That’s my kind of easy…good idea.
I love the idea with the pretzels. I think this would be great to try this year!
This would be a quick and easy treat for family and friends.

I have the same Scentsy warmer.
I don’t have a crafty bone in my body, but I’m trying. I can honestly say that I’m not a patient person, so it’s not easy. I love your pretzels, they look delicious. The best gifts are food related anyway, right 😉
What a great idea. It also sounds doable!

Mmmmm… Chocolate covered pretzels.

i love pretzel sticks i so gotta try this
I am not crafty at all either! But these pretzel sticks look like something I can’t mess up (too much) thanks for the idea =)
Such a nifty idea! Thank you for sharing, things like these are great for the people you don’t know well or are hard to buy for.
Great to make with kids and delicious too!
You make it look so easy! These are beautiful AND simple.
Love this idea 🙂
I sometimes feel crafty and then start a project and remember how not crafty I am! We made candy cane bark for teachers this year. (the recipe where you just melt white chocolate and add crushed candy canes then stick it in the fridge!).
Nice holiday treat for everyone, kids and adults.
Chocolate dipped pretzels sound perfect!
