Last week, on our summer holiday in our hometown, we joined my older (heh) sister at my parents house for a weekend of good food, great chats, and funny stories. Our food during the week consisted of everything from homemade donuts in the morning to steak and creamy dill potatoes in the evening. Oh yes, it was a very good week!
As a Butterball Turkey blogger this summer (awesomesauce, I know!) I have been on the hunt for Butterball products to use in various recipes and was surprised by how difficult they were to find. Thankfully, I found Butterball Turkey Franks at my local Walmart and at Superstore in my hometown while staying at my parent’s.
I brought them home and since my sister was already putting regular wieners on the grill I asked her to add the Butterball Turkey Franks. During grilling we kept them separate, noting that I wanted to take a photo of it’s deliciousness on a plate (nice photo above, no?) However, upon serving the rest of the hot dogs we placed them all on one platter and then had no idea which was which!
None of us, not myself, my husband, my sister, parents or kids could determine which hot dog was a regular wiener and which one was a Butterball Turkey Frank. I ate two hot dogs because I had to be absolutely sure that what I suspected was the Butterball Turkey Frank actually was (all in the name of a review, I say!) but in the end, no one was 100% certain.
And that’s a very good thing!
In the past, I’ve tried a variation of the usual – a veggie burger in place of a regular beef burger, and been disappointed. “It tastes just the same,” does not count when the alternative tastes like chickpeas and cardboard. So, I had a bit of trepidation trying turkey franks for the first time.
Now? We’re making the switch! And why not when they’re gluten free, lactose free and have less fat than pork or beef wieners. Have you made the switch?
Aside from eating Butterball Turkey Franks in place of hot dogs, here are some ideas from Butterball.ca on other ways you can incorporate Turkey Franks into recipes:

Very cool! What is the nutritional difference between the the Butterball wieners and a regular one?
Great question, I’d suggest emailing them here to ask: butterball@butterball.ca
