Back to School, Back to Routine, Time to Clean Up

Finish Additives“You would never wash your dishes in a dirty sink, so why use a dirty dishwasher? Even if your dishwasher looks clean, hidden dirt can build up.”

That line, as part of the introduction to Finish Additives products for bloggers within the Mom Central Canada network, was all I needed to read.

A self-professed germophobe, I don’t think I’ve ever been the same after learning via Dr.Oz that your kitchen sink has more germs that a toilet.  So, reading the above made me question everything in my life.  OK, at least everything in my kitchen. 😉

I keep my sink clean to wash dishes in, yet my dishwasher isn’t actually cleaned because – well – it does the cleaning so why should I?  Until I opened my dishwasher and had a look around.  Ew.  Oh my, I felt a little flushed.

When my Finish Additives products arrived, I was ready to get to work.  Finish Jet Dry Rinse Agent can be used every time you run the dishwasher, to help rinse away leftover food residues that can make your glass wear look spotty or simply make you wrinkle your nose when you realize there’s something stuck to your butter knife upon pulling it out of the dishwasher.  I like this little extra boost to help keep my dishes extra clean.

But first, you need to start with a clean dishwasher.  Like my clean sink, I need to ensure that there’s nothing scary or creepy hiding in my dishwasher and using Finish Dishwasher Cleaner (1 bottle/month) keeps your dishwasher clean from grease and limescale buildup (ew.)

The problem, of course, is just remembering to purchase these products. I suggest grabbing them every time you buy dishwasher detergent, consider it part of the whole package.  Detergent is really only doing part of the job.  Giving your dishwasher and dishes the 1-2-3 punch ensures you’re getting everything really clean.  With September upon us, it’s a great time to start a new routine.
