This summer, mentor, speaker and author Betty-Ann Heggie is encouraging women to connect with their feminine energy, take time for themselves to reflect, and s-l-o-w down. Her recent blog posts have all had a central theme – looking at our feminine energy and not only observing how others may see us out in the world, but looking inward to evaluate and appreciate ourselves.
In her post, Make Up to Make Good, Betty-Ann Heggie looks at a recent partnership announcement between Air Canada Rouge and Maybelline and whether in 2013 this is really newsworthy. Does make up make you feel good, project a glow, or just another tool used to evaluate a woman’s worth based on her appearance?
Next, Betty-Ann Heggie shares her Summer Lessons – a blog post where she takes a suggestion from a conference called , “The Third Metric: Redefining Success Beyond Money and Power”. At the conference, organizers advised women to lead the way in determining a new definition for success. “We should sleep longer, take more time off and meditate to calm our active and overly excited minds,” says Betty-Ann.
Finally, in her blog post Avoid a Health Crisis – Take Time to Just Be, Betty-Ann shares a personal story about her own health crisis and the lessons it taught her. She looks at how meditation ultimately was the perfect drug to help her, and how it can help you.

I am trying to eat healthier. I find it easier with all the wonderful fruits and veggies in season.
I am getting out on my bike on the trails, for a little “me time”. Nothing like biking in the forest!
I am currently waiting for life changing surgery.The wait time has been long 🙁 Having said that,I refuse to stress myself out over it.Whatever happens ,happens.Deal with the issues as they come and try to keep a smile on my face 🙂 🙂
I plan on sleeping in while the kids read or watch tv. And I hope to get a few good books read for myself.
I’ve been spending a lot of time this summer reading and just relaxing. I work 40 hours a week, which for me is a break (used to 50). I’m just trying to take it easy this time!
getting a massage
Doing some sort of exercise for 30 minutes everyday! Need to love my body and treat it to exercise! 🙂
I have started going for bike rides with my family most nights. I feel great and the family time is nice.
I don’t plan on spending too much time out in the hot sun and I am going to take time out to relax.

I have to use a walker to get around now so I spend alot off time on my deck reading 🙂

Only one thing? There are at least two things I plan to do this summer: get a massage and spend time outside.
A little be frivlous, but I am going for regular massages. Keeps my muscles from being so tight but also allows for me to relax. Indulgent but worth it!

I plan to eat more healthy, fresh food. We’ve been eating a salad almost every day recently. I also want to spend more time outside (since I tend to hide in my cool basement).
One way is to go for very long peaceful bike rides.

I have always wanted to learn the guitar. I even purchased a second hand childrens guitar at a garage sale and started learning struts, but it is too small for adults to properly do cords on! I would put this towards a guitar actually made for adults!
I am moving several times this summer, and will be taking care of me by paring down the amount of extra clutter that I lug around with me!
I”ve taken every Friday off from June – August to spend more time with my teen sons (& the 3yr old), to connect. It’s becoming more & more important to my happiness to make sure I’m IN their lives and not just present/watching. 🙂
I plan to treat myself to professional pedicures. It is nice to get out of the house by myself (and away from the baby), and have someone cater to me. Plus they give a great leg massage.
I hope to walk more and enjoy the outdoors!

For me I would get my hair done first of all and then go and buy myself some nice clothes.
I’ve been very sedentary, so I’m trying to do a little bit of exercise each day – walk, work in the garden, etc.
I plan on spending time with my daughter and reading…actually making time to complete a novel!
Spending more time in my vegetable garden – I work alone and rest there from everything and everybody.
I’m going to try and be more active this summer. I’d like to get back in to cycling, the extra cash could help fix up my old bike.
i’m going to make a point of getting a lot more fresh air and going for longs walks each day (regardless of weather). outdoor activity will be the key for me this summer.
there are so many books that i have on my list so I totally would spend it at McNally Robinson!! I also could use a pedicure and manicure so maybe that too!
I am slimming down, watching my diet including more fresh fruit and vegies and some juicing too. Walking daily is another thing which is helping me take care of me!!

We are moving at the end of july – so after that is all said and done I plan on taking a week off with my boys. Going to the trailer and relaxing!

Summer makes me get outside more often and on my bike
I am going to focus on self care; I have made a spa appointment with my best friend, I have signed up for yoga and meditation classes, and I am getting outside and walking with my husband more often. The summer and fall are good times for getting lots of fresh local produce, as well 🙂

One way I’ve started taking care of me this summer is by running. I would use this money to buy myself runners (I’ve been running in flip-flops). I’ll be buying some in the next month either way though I suppose. Running makes me feel strong and healthy and confident

While my husband is on a much needed break fr work, we take a few days where we don’t answer the phone, we don’t have people in, we just stay at home and focus on family activites, w no distractions. We love it.

If I won this money, I would go get a massage and tip the RMT well! After a stressful year of school, blogging, editing, working two jobs, and being a girlfriend, I’m still trying to de-stress!

I am a single mother with a child with duchenne muscular dystrophy who is going through degeneration I want to maintain all the physical and mental health to continue to care of him as things get harder. We are trying to save for a home that is wheelchair accessible home!

More outdoor activities for exercise
Weight loss will be at the top of my list! I am recovering from both femurs being fractured. Being wheelchair bound has packed on the pounds! I am now using a walker so hopefully that will aid in the weight loss but winning anything is such a nice morale boost!!
