Go Paperless With Canada Post epost

I am a member of the Collective Bias®  Social Fabric® Community.  This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Collective Bias and their client.

I made some promises to myself in April, when I was buried under a stack of paper trying to sort  everything for my taxes.  I told myself that this year, 2013, would be different.  I would be more organized.  I would tally my expenses, GST paid, and all that other fun business stuff at the end of every month.  I would ensure I was dealing with less paper.  And if I found myself still dealing with more paper than I could manage, I would at the very least learn how to organize and sort it monthly for goodness sake.

More than halfway through 2013 I am embarassed to report that has been a big gigantic #FAIL!

But I’m not tapping out just yet.

epost1 #shopI have resources on hand to use – the problem is that I just have to start using them!  When given the opportunity through Collective Bias to try out Canada Post epost I figured it was perfect for me.  This way I could try out something because – well – I sort of had to as part of actually reviewing the service, and hopefully at the end of it I would come out with a little less paper and a little more organization.  So how did it go?

Signing up was easy.  Simply create a user name, password and enter in your email and bam, you’re done step one!  I also discovered that once you sign up for epost and register two bills, you’re automatically entered to win $1000!  Hey, this review was looking better by the minute…

Adding a Mailer (a bill) is simple.  Select from the list and follow the next steps.

epost3 #shopAdding the SaskTel Mobility bill was more of a hassle that I’d have liked, because you need to go to the SaskTel website and log into your eBill account. What if you don’t have an eBill account?  More sign-ups need to happen first which is frustrating.

If you have not already registered as a SaskTel eBill customer, you will first need to obtain a Web ID by calling 1-800-SASKTEL during business hours, and then go to www.sasktel.com on the eBILL tab to register. Once registered, you will be able to sign up to receive your SaskTel and SaskMobility statements via epost.

I hit cancel and continued on registering another Mailer. I’m not sure I’ll bother registering my SaskTel and SaskTel Mobility Bills because I’d have to sign up for eBill on another site first. I like easy.

epost4 #shopBeyond signing up to keep your bills all in one spot, epost is a handy spot to find a wealth of other federal and provincial government information, which I discovered in the Services area of the site.  This is really great, since many people are often searching for this information.  While other government sites may offer the same, it’s not all condensed in the same spot you go to view and pay your bills so this is great. See?  I like easy.

epost6 #shopI’m glad I took the opportunity to try out Canada Post epost, because I’m not sure how long I would have waited to otherwise.  It offers many benefits, undoubtedly the biggest being going paperless and of course having all your bills organized in one spot.  I hope, in time, that the process with Adding a Mailer becomes more streamlined (I didn’t like having to create yet another account to add my SaskTel bills, blah!) so that all bills can be added in one place.  Until then, I’ll continue to use it as an information resource and keep my eye on the goal of being more organized, with less paper, in 2013.  Hopefully epost can help me achieve that!

  • I’m surprised that it’s worked out so well for you. I signed up thinking that it would be GREAT and awesome, but so far I’ve been really disappointed in it’s limitations. I will, however, take another look at it and see if I can alter some things that would make it easier. I too want to have LESS paper to file and keep track of.
