Recently, when I was interviewed on Global Saskatoon Morning News by the fabulous Lisa Dutton, a final question she asked me was about new moms. What advice did I have to give new moms out there? A pretty heavy question before 8 in the morning! My answer? Stop comparing yourself to others, stop getting sucked into the mommy competition, and start supporting one another because we’re all trying to do the very best we can.
Next month, Playtex Mommyville is launching the Mom of the Month program for Canadian Moms in that same spirit. It’s not about featuring a mom that is the “top mommy blogger” or “top school volunteer mom” – this program is about recognizing everyday Canadian Moms (all of us!) and giving a different mom a voice to share her experience, her voice, and her wisdom each month!
How would you like to be featured as the Playtex Mommyville Mom of the Month?! What an amazing honor and a huge opportunity to share your story, your hilarious moments, and your wisdom with other moms across Canada. Let’s be real here, there is a little bit of bragging rights that go along with it! 😉
All you need to do to be entered is answer a few questions to get the discussion started and help the folks at Playtex Mommyville learn a little more about you. The Mommyville Facebook page will periodically ask moms to answer a set of questions for their chance to shine and be featured as the Playtex Mom of the Month. The questions cover a variety of topics, such as, “When did you first realize that you were no longer a ‘me’ but a ‘we’?” or “How do you keep track of your baby’s firsts and important milestones?” Then, upload a photo of yourself or your family, and you are now in the running to be a 2013 Playtex Momyville Mom of the Month!
The first step is giving the Playtex Mommyville page a LIKE on Facebook, and of course encouraging your friends to do so as well. I can’t wait to see the moms featured in 2013 and the stories they have to share. Real stories, real moments, from proud Canadian moms. You can’t beat that.
not a new mom, my kids are in their 20’s commenting here because of the contest. sounds like a great site though for new moms or moms with small kids
Im seeing my niece this weekend for baptism and holidays going to show her your site and this page.
This is a great idea, I like reading things that don’t come with manufactured answers and/or comments out of a box
Sounds like a great site.
Will pass this site onto my friend, looks good.
Wish they had a daddy program too.
Wonderful site. I love companies that use real people as advocates. Real life moments with real solutions.
Truly a site where everyone can be a part of.
Sounds like a good site.
Checked out the page on facebook and took the questionnaire. Looks like a nice site 🙂
Looks like a nice site but its way past my time. I am a grandmother 7 times over so its been a long time since my kids were small. I love reading about others ideas and solutions to motherhood though.
sounds good,thanks.
This sounds great! I’m familiar with their website but I was unaware of the “Mom of the Month” program.
Mom of the Month is a neat idea. Great site!
The Mom of the Month program is a great idea. Us moms need to stick together and mentor one another instead of judging:)
This is a great resource for new moms.
This is a cool program – I hope someone from SK is chosen at some point.
This a great site for new Moms. Wish I had something like this when I had my babies.
What a fantastic idea.. So many great moms can share their tips and advice.
My kids are all grown up & moved away, however anything that supports moms in the first few years is great. I remember getting cabin fever of sorts when my kids were small (only 17 months apart) One of the things I did just to remain sane was take night school courses just to hear some adult conversation. One of the things I will be doing if I should be lucky enough to become a grandparent is to offer to babysit for an hour here or there so the new mom can catch up on her sleep, read a book or go to the doctor’s office by herself. (All things I wished I could have had when mine were small)
not a mom yet, but will pass tell my friends about this. 🙂
Looks like a great site!
Sounds like a good place for support and advice — I’m definitely going to pass it onto my friends!
YAY for moms! This is so great!
This is a great site for new moms.
recommended this site for my niece 🙂
Great advice – not just for new moms but as a whole. It is so easy to compare yourself to others and let the comparisons bog you down!
Sounds like a very helpful site for mommies.
I love passing on great sites for my new mom friends!
Interesting site!
I am sooo glad that I am passed the baby stage and all my kids are in elementary school. I had 3 kids under the age of 2 and all I remember is lack of sleep and LOTS of diapers. Now I feel like we are at the fun stages where I can enjoy doing things with my kids and they are much more indepenent.
Awesome info, thanks so much for sharing, I’m going to go check this out right now!
Sounds like a great idea to me. Encouragement instead of competition is the way to go.
This sounds like a wonderful program…wish this was around when Sara was little.
I agree with Darwin that there should be more programs for dads.
I sounds very interesting…I must recommend it to my nieces. Thank you for your wonderful site
Cool program… not a mom.. yet!! 😉
I’d never heard of it; it sounds like a great program!
Interesting and helpful program thanks!
Great site for new moms
I am not a mother myself but I do believe that parenting is a tough job where one could use more help and advice from other women..
This sounds great!
great to have moms sharing their experiences
I wish a site like this had been available when I was a young mom……..oh, there was no internet back then lol
Looks like a great site.
What a great read this will be
Love this idea!
