I love points programs. I have blogged a lot about some of my favorite points programs out there. Really, why shouldn’t you get something extra back for the loyal shopping you do. Actually, even for the not so loyal shopping too! If a store offers you a points program and it’s free to sign up – do it. I have points cards from stores that I rarely shop at, but it doesn’t matter. Points add up to merchandise and other rewards for free. And this frugal mama loves free.
So, given the opportunity to try out the Sears Club Points program and purchase products using the points, I was obviously excited. Earning points is easy, and redeeming them is the best part!
One should note that you earn Sears Club Points whenever you use your Sears Financial Credit Card so you need one to use the other. Once you accumulate enough points to redeem, you can head into a Sears store to do so or you can redeem online. I opted to redeem my points online since the closest store is about an hour away. With approximately 20,000 points ($200 value!) I was off to shop one lazy Sunday afternoon.
Clothes are always an easy go-to item and Sears has a great selection of clothing, shoes and outerwear for the whole family. Instead, I decided to indulge in a few items that needed some updating in our home as well as another item that I’ve always wanted to have.
I ordered two gorgeous Whole Home Luxura Pima Cotton Bath Towels in dark chocolate and another two in a different color (I only received the dark chocolate ones so far as the other color is on backorder). I meticulously went through all the customer reviews on the different towels at Sears and decided on these because of the positive reviews. So far, I’ve been very happy with them!
The other item I received from my order was a Sunbeam Luxury Royal Mink Heated Blanket. I’m always cold in the evenings and with snow on the ground here in Saskatchewan already, a heated blanket is a divine thing!
I had a blast shopping and was really excited to receive my items. I was disappointed that a few were on backorder and as of yet I still haven’t received them. I called to check on my order and was told early November.
Using my Sears Club Points was easy, shopping online was fun and relaxing from home. I’m disappointed about the backordered items though. If I shopped in store I’d see what was available and would leave the store with all my purchases at the same time. However, as long as you’re not ordering a time sensitive item (like a dress for a party or a gift for someone), the backordered items shouldn’t be a big deal in the big picture and for me they’re not. I’ll await my other items and will enjoy them when they arrive next month!
