Here are 15 great beauty tips using products found in your kitchen! How many have you tried? Which one are you scared to try??
1. Ground coffee is just as good an exfoliant as many expensive products. All you need is a quarter cup of ground coffee mixed with a tablespoon of salt.
2. Mayonnaise or mashed bananas both make excellent face masks.
3. Oily hair? Boil and mash carrots then leave on your hair for 15 minutes.
4. To remove residue from hair, mix 6 tbsp beer with 1 cup water and pour over your head as a final rinse after cleansing.
5. Love this at-home manicure: take a grape (you’ll need 5 total) and slice in half. Dip the fleshy side in sugar (1 tbsp on a plate) and then rub the sugared grape on your fingernails and cuticles. The sugar and fruit acids help exfoliate dry, dead skin and hangnails.
6. To combat tired/puffy eyes, cold cucumbers, raw potato slices, moistened tea bags or chilled spoons all work! Leave the treatment on for 10 minutes at a time.
7. Mix honey and sugar together to use as a great (and yummy) lip exfoliator. Beauty experts suggest exfoliating your lips once a week, when is the last time you did it??
8. Want to plump your kisser? Rubbing cinnamon on your lips is said to plump them up instantly.
9. Sour cream is a great treatment for razor burn! Just take some sour cream and rub it on the affected area – the lactic acid in the sour cream soothes irritated skin
10. To whiten and brighten your nails, simply use whitening toothpaste! Easy!
11. Ripe bananas are not just for making banana bread – use a ripe mashed banana to sooth dry cracked heels. Experts say you’ll notice the softness after just one treatment (leave on for 10-15 minutes for optimal results).
12. Make your own fruity at-home lip gloss by mixing 2tbsp solid shortening and 1tbsp flavored drink mix (hmm, Kool-Aid!) in a microwave safe bowl until smooth. Place in microwave for about 30 seconds or until smooth, then pour liquid into an old 35mm film container (but who has those anymore?) Place in fridge for 20-30 minutes until firm. You can buy mini lip balm containers with most travel size items at the drug store. What else can this be stored in, ideas?
Apparently baking soda and water are a good substitute for the microdermabrasion (3:1). I haven’t tried it yet, so I can’t say if it really works or not!
Baking soda does work as for micro-dermabrasion/exfoliant but be careful & rub gentle, I found it a bit harsh. I love brushing my teeth a few times a week with baking soda & water mixed into a paste, tastes gross but I can immediately see an improvement in whiteness! Good tips in this article 🙂
Thanks for the cool tips!
I have been using olive oil as makeup and eye makeup remover. Seems to be more gentle on the skin around the eyes but then in the morning you need to cleanse.
