BBQ Burger Recipe

Hamburgers are a BBQ dinner standard, and if you do ‘em right there’s a gigantic difference between what you can make at home and what you buy in a fast food joint. However, even if you’re good at home burgers, sometimes you get bored with em. “Oh honey the caramelized onions, bell peppers, chorizo, and cumin mixed into the patty are just delicious, but…”, you may have heard. I have recently, and it wasn’t terribly gratifying. Repetition breeds contempt is all I’m trying to say, and a little inspiration goes a long way. Here’s a new recipe I’ve been trying out. These are a bit spicier than usual.

Here’s what you’ll need for the seasoning:
1 tablespoon salt
2 teaspoons paprika
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon ground pepper
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon celery salt

Mix it all together in a bowl. There’s your seasoning!

Here’s what you’ll need for the spicy mayo:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 teaspoons chili powder
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard

Mix it all together in a bowl. There’s your sauce!

Now onto the burgers, you’ll need:
1 1/2 lb lean ground beef
8 slices bacon
4 slices mozzarella cheese
4 hamburger buns
1 tomato (cut into slices)
4 lettuce leaves

Steps!

1. Grill the bacon and the burgers. Try making the patties very thin and you’ll have enough meat for twelve (with three patties per hamburger). Grill the burgers for about 3 minutes per side and the bacon until crisp. Be generous with the seasoning you’ve made, and about a minute before you’re done with the patties place the mozzarella on four of the twelve patties to melt. Also remember to toast the bread.

2. Once the meat is done, you can assemble the burgers however you prefer, but try the following: Place the cheese topped patties on the bottom, followed by the plain patties, garnished with tomatoes, lettuce, and bacon. Add mayo according to preference.
