Oh what a happy mom I was when I got the email announcing that Umi’s Spring 2012 collection was now available. This means Spring is right around the corner, and in the midst of lousy winter weather I couldn’t help but shop online lately for great spring styles for the kids – even if I did it backwards and matched the clothing up to the great shoes Umi sent me for the girls!
Everleigh (10 months) is walking and while all her walking occurs indoors right now – as soon as the snow melts she will need supportive, comfortable and of course cute shoes for outdoor play. Her new soft pink Trieste style shoes from Umi fit the bill perfectly! The sole on the shoe is perfect for first-walkers because, though it’s sturdy and supportive enough for outdoor walking on all surfaces, it’s also flexible to ensure that her tiny feet can still move naturally.
The style itself is super-popular with Umi fans; it’s available in three other colors for girls and two colors for boys. I can see why, although our shoes are still a little big for Everleigh (I wanted them to fit perfectly this summer when she can get the most use out of them!). The supportive ankle is super soft and the material moves with baby’s leg, not against it, ensuring there won’t be any new-shoe blisters this spring either. Although many Umi shoes have it, I especially like the anti-bacterial herbal footbed on these shoes – that means that you won’t have stinky little toes at the end of a hard day of play because the footbed actually works to eliminate odors, naturally, while they play. How cool is that?
Since we have a wedding to go to this summer, I knew when I saw the Louise style in white that it would be perfect for the occasion. Gone are the days when a wedding meant kids were in tough plastic shoes that left red marks and blisters on their feet (that was my suffering, ugh, do you remember the same?) Now Nevaeh can wear these adorable sandals with a cute dress and have comfortable feet for dancing long past her bedtime.
