I know fitness and losing weight is on the minds of many of us in January – did you know that most resolutions are broken by January 24th, though? Instead of focusing on a specific resolution/goal, I think it’s best to just give yourself the freedom to make better choices. In general. Yep, that’s it! It’s a pretty vague statement, I know, but that way you don’t have to have the guilt trip when your resolution to go to the gym isn’t happening by the time February rolls around. Pass up dessert last night? Kudos to you, you made a better choice! Looking for more healthy recipes? High five, you’ve taken a great step towards better eating!
The Running Room has teamed up with Fibre 1 to present the Chill Challenge on Wednesday, February 29th and this challenge is something all of us can do! While I get out for walks often in the summer months, in the winter I am very much a hermit! The Running Room wants to encourage you to get outside this winter for 20 minutes of walking or running. See? I told you all of us could do this! 20 minutes is no big deal, and who knows – we might even have fun!
Use the link here to register for the Chill Challenge online – the first 10,000 to register will get a free toque!

I registered, now I hope I don’t break anything…I am so clumsy winter walking scares me 🙂
I nearly wiped out a few times today, carrying the baby, walking into school to pick up my older daughter, so I totally hear you!
Thanks for sharing. It is important to exercise all year round.
I can’t register as my city has been left out.
My husband loves walking at night, especially when it’s a bit chilly. I’m not a big fan of the cold so I don’t often join him… I will try to change that!
What’s a toque?
Never mind, I see it’s a hat/beanie thing. 🙂
Hi Paula — actually a toque is part of the Canadian national psyche, also known as wardrobe. It’s right up there with Sudbury Dinner Jackets (plaid lumberjack shirts) and Timmie’s in your hand (take out coffee cup.) 😀
I don’t think I’d do the outdoor walking/running… but I am making a change of getting to the gym – but I’ve got major motivation now! They do CHILDCARE!! 😀 I can get the kids out of my hair for up to 2 hours per day there! It’s amazing how much I all of a sudden love the gym (even though I still despise working out)
