As 1 of 3 moms in Canada chosen to be a part of the McDonald’s All-Access Moms program, I have been given the opportunity to travel across Canada (and briefly in the US) to learn everything I can about the McDonald’s company and products.
In July Maureen Dennis (WeeWelcome.ca), Jill Amery (UrbanMommies.com) and I traveled along with Cityline Parenting Expert Nanny Robina to Toronto and Chicago on our first of many trips. You can read all about that trip on my McDonald’s All-Access Moms Trip #1 post on my blog as well as all our viewpoints on the All-Access Moms Cityline site!
Now, it’s time to travel as a team again and this time we’re off to Grand Falls, New Brunswick! What’s in Grand Falls?
The McCain French Fry Facility, of course! We will be touring the facility and meeting with local potato farmers, to learn about the process start to finish on how McDonald’s brings their delicious world famous fries to us.
I have a mad mad love for McDonald’s french fries!
They are, hands down, my favorite fries from a fast food restaurant and I’ve been a french fry connoisseur (so says my big sister) since about the age of 3 when she’d sit me down with a plate of fries at the local hang-out to keep me quiet while she babysat hung out with her friends (love you, big sis!)
I’m eager to see how the entire process works, and learn what makes McDonald’s french fries so delicious. Of course, I am curious about a certain You Tube viral video out there that shows viewers the characteristic of these fries that seems rather odd – why don’t they mold and disintegrate like most food would?
The information I was given on our last trip, which makes sense to me, is outlined in my McDonald’s All-Access Moms Trip #1 post. It’s all about moisture (or lack thereof) in products, I’ve been told. Still, I do want to investigate this further and learn what I can – not only for my own peace of mind but also so I can share the information with my mommy friends both in my social circle and here with you.
I will be in New Brunswick Tuesday and Wednesday of next week and will be tweeting now and then (@FeistyFrugal) and updating on Facebook as well.
Do you have any questions about the McCain facility, potato farming process, and more? Feel free to leave them here in a comment, contact me on Twitter or Facebook or send me an email.
Later trips this fall will be addressing the beef and chicken facilities and processes, so there’s plenty more information and discussion to come!
