My husband and I just got iPhones within the last month, and naturally have been busy downloading new Apps and trying them out.
So, when asked to check out the Moby App for iPhone and iPad I easily downloaded them (for free) onto both phones to try.
Moby is useful for families that have older children who carry iPhones because the App allows you to quickly check-in, or request a check-in, from others that you are connected to without imposing on their fun.
With the push of a button, you can let others in your select, private, network know where you are without having to send a text or make a call. I can see this being useful when checking in on teenagers – who wants to have a chat with mom (how embarrassing) on the middle of a date or out with friends when they can just discreetly let them know “yes, I’m ok, I’m at the movie theater” using the Moby App.
The above is a screenshot from my iPhone when I sent my husband a Check-In using the Moby App when I was at the airport last week!
Here’s a check-in I sent on my way home after my week away – it was an easy way to let my husband know how close I was (and when it was time to order the pizza for our family pizza party when I got home!)
Overall we had fun using this app between the two of us, though we agree that it would be more useful to a family with older kids so that everyone could check in with each other. For more information about the Moby App and how-to videos, check out the Moby You Tube page.
“I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Moby and received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.”
I can really see how this would be good for people who get lost in a mall or on vacation, too! But, yeah…great for kids and parents.
