Last summer, when I was on the hunt for furniture for my living room, I was surprised by how hard tv stands were to find.
Weird, right? When you think about it, though, flat screens are becoming more common in households (I wonder what % of households still have the big square tv’s, aside from big screens).
Because of this, retailers seem to be focusing more on other furniture and doing away with displaying dozens of oak tv stands, entertainment centers, etc., like they did 10 years ago. If you’re looking for corner tv stands, it can be even more difficult to find them in stores.
I had such bad experience with a chain-furniture store last summer (ordered and paid for my bedroom furniture and didn’t have it for 70+ days when it was supposed to be no longer than 3 weeks when I paid) that I have been more open to shopping online for bigger furniture items now. Why be limited to what your local retailer has when you can find a huge selection online and in a lot of cases get a great shipping rate (sometimes free, depending on the site).

We actually have a couch table that we have always used for a TV stand.
I agree some piece of furniture are so hard to find. I was looking for a nice(not cheap looking) DVD/Bluray storage unit. I wanted doors and didn’t want to buy a bookshelve that is way too wide. I had to buy it online since I couldn’t find anything to my liking in the furniture stores. It was fast and didn’t cost more. Definitly worth doing.
They are so hard to find!! I work at The Brick and if someone is looking for a corner stand…good luck. I’m hoping they add more soon because it’s a weekly thing.
I understand your pain. A couple of years ago, I wanted a new TV stand, and it was almost impossible to find something with enclosed storage. Did finally find one at Best Buy and it was a great addition to the living room furniture!
