CuddlyWrap by Peapod Creations

I have a love/hate relationship with baby wearing.  I love to do it but have a hard time doing it because it doesn’t come naturally to me.  Maybe all moms feel that way in the beginning with wearing wraps, slings, and other carriers but they overcome it and look like experts by the time I see them.  I tell myself that to make myself feel better!  I have mastered a few different styles of baby carriers (the kind with buckles, straps, etc.) but when it comes to wraps or slings I’m pretty much a newbie even after 3 kids.

The CuddlyWrap is one large piece of fabric – wider through the middle and slimmer on the ends for tying.  It’s intimidating when first pulled out of the box it comes in because it’s huge and at first glance I wondered how on earth I was going to use it.  Thankfully, my CuddlyWrap came with a DVD and an instructional booklet with photos.  The photo instructions are easy to follow, yet the first few times I tried the CuddlyWrap I still didn’t look like the people in the photos on the site.

This, I learned, is perfectly normal.  Hooray!  This means that all those moms I see at the playground or events who seem to be masters at baby wraps learned how to wear their babies too.  Yes, learned.

Once you wear the CuddlyWrap for a few times, it does get easier to do and you learn which areas you need to specifically pay attention to when putting it on.  My initial problem is that I wasn’t pulling the fabric tight enough, thinking I needed to have room for it to give, but not realizing that the 100% organic cotton has enough stretch on its own for that purpose.

The instructions shown here are the basic position but the booklet included also features various other positions you can wear your baby, including an infant cradle position and cuddle-hold facing out position among others.

I can’t say that using a wrap like this is easy – it takes time to figure out and it’s easy to get frustrated.  The creators of CuddlyWrap do their best, though, to explain how to wear the wrap via the included booklet and DVD.  While it’s not my first choice of baby carrier to use, I know moms who would use nothing but this style.

If wearing your baby in a wrap like this is something you can’t wait to do, check out the Peapod Creations site where you can see where to purchase the CuddlyWrap in stores or online.  If shopping online, check out a few different sites to compare prices – I found them on various sites ranging from $69.95 – $84 though shipping prices may sway your decision on where to purchase as well.
