So, in a not-so-shocking season finale, The Bachelor choose sweet-as-pie Emily to be his bride. Not that any of us were surprised. What will be surprising is whether these two actually make it down the aisle. How many reality show couples can you think of that have made it for the long haul?
I don’t mean to be a cynic. In fact, I quite love the idea of a swept-off-her-feet type of romance playing before my eyes, but in a day and age (jeez I sound old using that phrase) when marriage problems erupt when we least expect them, the foundation of a marriage in the first place should be based on something more than winning a reality show and being chosen as the one, no?
I wonder if the finalists on The Bachelor are offered marriage counseling as part of the final prize – you know, after the flashy Neil Lane ring is shown do they also get an envelope promising future counseling, maybe a book or two on how to save a marriage and the sort? Or are the producers done with the couple after their 15 minutes of fame?
I love watching The Bachelor, I really do, but I think the real drama begins after “the final rose” so to speak and that’s the part the rest of us never see.
Trista and Ryan (Bachelorette) Rob and Steph (Survivor) and, and, and…I think that’s it…LOL.
rob and amber from survivor.
I agree completely!
