Cher is in the media spotlight right now, with the November 24th release date of Burlesque in theaters she’s on the must-have interview list of all entertainment reports (as I type this I’m watching her being interviewed on 20/20). Like many people, I watch her in complete awestruck (or is that Moonstruck?) amazement and can hope that I look half as good when I’m her age.
On November 2nd, MGM Home Entertainment released Cher: The Film Collectionon DVD just in time for the Burlesque premiere and also of course in time for the holidays.
The 6 film DVD collection includes:
Good Times (1967) 91 minutes – Sonny and Cher’s one and only movie together.
Chastity (1969) 83 minutes – Cher plays a reckless rebel on the fast road to nowhere.
Silkwood (1983) 131 minutes – Both Meryl Streep and Cher were nominated for Academy Awards for this film.
Moonstruck (1987) 102 minutes – Cher won an Oscar for Best Actress for her role in this film.
Mermaids (1990) 110 minutes – Cher, Winona Ryder and Christina Ricci all shine in this film.
Tea With Mussolini (1999) 117 minutes – Cher’s last film before her 2010 release of Burlesque (yes it’s been that long!)
With a career spanning over 40 years, there’s a Cher fan in every generation. Pick up Cher: The Film Collection for somone special this holiday season, and settle in to watch it with them and see why Cher truly is an icon for the ages.
