When we moved into this house, we prepared for having a much smaller kitchen than in our previous house. I’m not huge into baking and preparing tons of food at one time so I thought I could handle the limited counter space for the most part. So far, it’s been ok. We purchased a bar-style table and bar stool set (backless) and it works for our little family since Nevaeh is still using her Boon highchair (it’s so much more useful than a regular highchair and looks like a stool, of sorts).
Now, with a new baby on the way and Nevaeh almost growing out of her highchair, I’m debating changing up our kitchen. One idea was to actually build a kitchen island in the same spot that the current table is in, with extra storage space underneath and a ledge for eating for the kids (we have a dining room and table in there for big family meals). Do you think this would make the kitchen look smaller or more useful in the end?
