The RCMP Heritage Center in Regina, Saskatchewan, opened in 2007 and is a “must-see” attraction in our province, and especially for those with family in the RCMP. Cadets who have passed through the RCMP Depot Training Academy are surprised to see the development on their turf since their days in training!
We have visited the RCMP Heritage Center in the past (a friend of mine had stunning wedding pictures taken there a few years ago) but we didn’t visit the museum itself until last month. Both my husband and I were surprised at the detail and amount of exhibits in the museum. I think elementary age children would really enjoy the forensics area (you can visit a mock crime scene and learn about RCMP investigative techniques to help figure out who did it), and the area on gang criminal activity and how it affects our daily lives was really well laid out as well (for kids AND adults!)
There are several areas for great photo ops including a locker area with red serge jackets and brown Stetson replica hats so the kids can dress up as “real” Mounties and of course, the classic Mountie cut-out seen above.
I’m a Lays Chip Trip Blogger, representing Saskatchewan this summer, and the RCMP Heritage Center in Regina SK is one of the many Lays Chip Trips you can take with your family, at a discount, using Lays Chip Trip Points. Just 5 points gets you a 2 for 1 admission to the RCMP Heritage Center, saving you $6.
You can search for Lays Trip Chips within your own province or, if you’re like us and are going to be travelling out of province this summer, you can check out your neighboring province’s Chip Trips as well! Go to www.layschiptrips.ca to sign up if you have not already done so – there’s still plenty of time to gather points on specially marked Lays Chip bags and redeem them for some great family adventures this summer.
I am participating in the Lay’s® Chip Trips program by Mom Central on behalf of Frito Lay Canada. I received Lay’s® Chip Trip points and a gift card to off-set my trip costs to facilitate this post. The opinions on this blog are my own.
