When I moved to our new city, I knew I was in trouble. In our old town of 2600 people, fast food was at best a greasy deep fried all-one-flavor meal so we avoided it for the most part (I’m only human, though, I love my french fries and a greasy one can sometimes hit the spot!)
Anyway, our new home town has not 1 but 2 Tim Hortons. Even though I could very well make my own coffee at home, I’ve missed my dear Timmies so much that I have – and I’m not kidding here – at least 1 double-double every day for the past 3 months. I joked with friends on Facebook that I was going to get a double-double-ass. Nope, it went all to my stomach!
Not all that surprised, today I ventured to the Tim Horton’s website to check out the Nutrition Calculator and see just how many calories I was adding to my diet every single day. Did I really want to know? Not really – the cold slap of reality sucks.
An extra large double-double, my addictive-drug-of-choice (yeah, yeah, we know it’s not but it feels soooooo good doesn’t it?) has a whopping 280 calories!
Yesterday I had two.
A large one cream, one sugar, has only 115 calories. Say what?!
It’s time to make the switch. I can’t give up Tim Hortons coffee. I’m a stay at home mom, it’s summer, and my husband works long hours. I NEED my coffee (insert shaking hands and bugged out eyes here.) The large one and one is 1 way to go. I’m curious though, what ways do you cut down on your coffee without giving up on delicious taste? Artificial sweetener? Giving up cream entirely (please don’t say that)?
Oh, and for the record. I don’t blame you Tim Horton. I love you. I just don’t like the squishy stomach our relationship has left me with.
I have a Tim Horton’s in my hand, and it wouldn’t be so bad if I hadn’t just finished a bagel to go with it. *sigh* 🙂
