I miss my childhood, remembering how we could run and play in the sun all day when our only concern about the sun was a minor sunburn on your shoulders from a glorious day in the sun. It’s not the sun exposure wasn’t dangerous 20 years ago – we just had no idea (think of the emergence of tanning beds in the 80s!) As parents in 2010, we need to be cautious and ensure our children (and ourselves) are well protected when out in the sun. This, of course, includes sunscreen but also sun safety apparel.
I think as women we are acutely aware of sun exposure and the damage it can cause our skin. We’re also hyper-vigilant about our children (I am like many moms who will end up with sun burn at the end of the day because I was so concerned about making sure the kids had sunscreen on that I forgot about myself). I don’t think my husband is concerned about sun exposure at all – his skin tone allows him to be out in the sun longer without burning and maybe that has given him a false sense of security. 
In any case, when I had the opportunity to review an item from Sun Protection Zone, I asked him to choose an item from the Mens DuckSkinz collection. The fiber used in the DuckSkinz is the textile equivalent to 100 SPF sunscreen, but he doesn’t need to know that. The DuckSkinz zip up we received just looks cool, and the fact that it keeps my man’s skin protected in the sun makes it even better.
I apologize for the quality of the picture above from my Blackberry but I wanted to use it to illustrate that the DuckSkinz for men can be worn anywhere, not just outside or at the waterfront. My husband really likes his and wears it all the time now! The fit is consistent too – we requested a size Large and it’s perfect.
Now for kids, Sun Protection Zone has a ton of great sun protection wear that happens to be really cute too! I like when my husband can review items as well but I admit that I wish my kids could have had some Sun Protection Zone too! I see from the site that the company is in Costco stores this spring so I will definitely be keeping my eyes open to get some gear for the kids!
