I’m such a sucker for pretty stationary. I miss the days of penpals (long before email), and sending my family cards in the mail just because. In fact, I still have a thing for sending cards whether it’s to thank someone for their hospitality, or maybe just a card to a friend who is going through a rough time. Sentimental and dorky maybe, but it’s what makes me who I am (a sentimental dork.)
Kari King, THE Design King (heh.), sent me a pack of Family Stationary Cards like the photo above. The design process, I remarked to her, was so much fun! It was like playing with dolls as a kid. I got to choose each member of the family, design their character right down to hair and eye color and of course complete the character with an outfit you’d likely find them in on any given day. I used to cut out ‘families’ from the Sears catalog as a kid and put them together in a scene on paper so this took me way back!
The website is really easy to navigate (above is just a small section of body style choices, there’s tons more for each family member) and there’s no annoying delay while your choices are loading, and I didn’t once have an issue with something being lost or having to start all over again because of a broken link (yes, this has happened on other sites and it’s infuriating!)
The personalized notecards are great for every day notes, but I can also see these being used as thank you cards for weddings, showers, and more. The worst thing, for a sentimental stationary dork like me, is to want to send someone a thank you card and only have those prissy floral (*cough* old people) ones on hand. I like having these cards handy. Plus, they make me look like I totally have it together. “Personalized notecards, wow aren’t we organized!”
