Merlin: The Complete First Season

The series features a powerful ensemble cast including BAFTA Award-winner Richard Wilson (One Foot in the Grave, Demons), Anthony Head (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Persuasion) and John Hurt (Hellboy, Harry Potter).

The series also guest stars Michelle Ryan (Bionic Woman, Doctor Who) and Eve Myles (Torchwood, Little Dorrit). I am not a fan of fantasy – I have never seen Lord of the Rings or any of the Harry Potter movies (yes, really!) but thought I would give this series a shot since I recalled the commercials on tv last year promoting it. My husband was more eager to check it out than me and he thought it was a good series. I saw some similarities to the early seasons of Smallville – the main character is seen in his younger years and has to learn how to hide his abilities for fear of what will happen if they are discovered. I can only speculate that in further seasons, Merlin learns more about who he is and how to harness his abilities more like Clark Kent.I have an additional copy of Merlin: The Complete First Season to give away to one of my readers!
