LiLiKiKS

Unlike other companies that make clothing for children as an afterthought, as part of the adult line with little attention paid to the smaller segment of their collection, LiLiKiKS is solely a company with active-wear for young girls.

The collection has a size range from x-small (6-7) to x-large (14), the clothing at LiLiKiKS is too big for my daughter, but the the company kindly sent me the above outfit in x-small for her “too big box”. The LiLiKiKS team includes moms too, of course, and they know all too well how moms can find a good deal and buy a year or two ahead! I do wish that LiLiKiKS would design their awesome active wear outfits for children younger than size 6-7 but I understand the dynamics of a new company, sourcing distributors and the like so maybe this is something we will see down the road if I keep my fingers crossed.

Designed and manufactured in Vancouver, British Columbia, this Canadian company is still quite new on the market (3 years old) and the mom buzz is just beginning. Founder Carolyn Bishop is a mom of 3 girls herself. She was frustrated at the lack of age-appropriate, activity-appropriate clothing on the market for her girls. So, having a background in the garment industry herself, she set out to create active-wear that girls from 6-14 would actually want to wear. Not too baby-ish, not looking like her mom, girls can run, jump, play and compete in LiLiKiKS.

The Teamster Jacket (LiLiKiKS most popular jacket) and perfectly matching KiK Classic Bootcut Pant make a great outfit together or can be worn separately. I found the x-small pants to look long, but being a size range of 6-7 and knowing what beanpole’s little girls can be, I appreciate that LiLiKiKS made their pants longer so that they can be hemmed to the perfect length if need be (rather than being embarrassingly too short!)

The website is nicely laid out – customers can search by specific clothing pieces (pants & bottoms for example) or they can look at suggestions from LiLiKiKS for specific activities like volleyball, yoga, or field hockey.
