Lovely Lisa and Friends for Nintendo DS actually surprised me. The follow up to the original Lovely Lisa game, released February 23rd, looks like a little girl’s fashion and accessory paradise on the shelves. If I were shopping for games for my 9 year old niece, for example, I may have passed this game by had I not learned more about it.
While the game, of course, features the fun of playing dress up with a virtual doll (and her friends) like some other DS games, Lovely Lisa and Friends encourages responsibility. You see, by helping out with different tasks/chores (helping mom or dad in the game, etc.) the player earns points which in turn can unlock other features within the game. I liked this feature a lot. Lovely Lisa also encourages girls to explore different career options. While many 9 year olds like my niece would probably choose fashionista as an ideal career, we know that there’s so much out there for girls and they need to know they can be anything they want to be.
