Rowenta Professional Flat Irons

If you google Rowenta irons chances are you will come up with a ton of links to sites about irons…but the kind you use on your clothes and not your hair. You see, Rowenta has been a well known and trusted brand for years. While their irons may be used in the household, Rowenta Garment Steamers have been used backstage at some of the largest fashion events in North America.

First used at fashion weeks in March 2009 in Canada, Rowenta’s newly lauched beauty products including flat irons, curling irons and hair dryers have been making a big impact backstage and in salons. When I first checked out Rowenta Beauty and looked through the features of the Rowenta Professional Titanium Ceramic Iron, I noted that it had bevelled plates and a rounded barrel. I have wanted to try and curl my hair using a flat iron (sounds counter productive doesn’t it?) but wasn’t sure of the technique or if there were any features of a flat iron that would make the task easier. Rowenta was my answer! So, it turns out curling your hair isn’t as easy as the 15 year old girls on You Tube make it look. I know this because I watched the videos, nodded along, and when it came time to doing it, I was a bit flustered and frustrated. It takes practice and I am getting there. The first time I did it, my hair went back in a ponytail for the day – but the ponytail was full of curls and my hair was full of volume, so it wasn’t a total loss. I’m getting the hang of it now and actually got more layers in my hair to make it easier and not so weighed down. Now that I’ve got the technique down, I can use my Rowenta flat iron to create curls in a pretty decent amount of time.

What’s so special about my new styling tool that makes it the choice of stylists backstage at fashion weeks and in salons across the country? First, this baby gets hot! It has three temperature settings, 360, 410 and then 450! I’ve been happy with the 410 setting, though. Because the flat iron gets super hot, the company has also taken safety into consideration with a sleep mode setting – after 60 minutes of non-use the iron will shut off. The titanium plates actually help kill bacteria and are resistant to scratching, two features I would find especially attractive about a product if I were a salon owner. As I mentioned before the bevelled plates an
d rounded barrel help when curling your hair.

Rowenta Professional Titanium Flat Irons can’t be ordered directly online in Canada, but you can use the handy Locator on the site to find a salon near you that sells Rowenta Beauty products.Of course, I’d be neglectful if I didn’t also give my Canadian readers the opportunity to win one as well! 1 Canadian reader is going to win a Rowenta Professional Titanium Ceramic Iron like the one I reviewed (ARV $219)! To enter, visit Rowenta Beauty and tell me something you learned about this company. Bonus good luck karma for finding something unique!
