Friends of mine who read my blog will probably be surprised to see The Marshmallow Shooter on here, since in general we’re pretty opposed to any type of ‘weapon’ in the house and have held steady for 5 years now. When I had the opportunity to check out The Marshmallow Shooter for review, I thought at the very least I could pass it on to another family who wasn’t so stringent in their rules (seriously, we had water-tube-squirters at my son’s birthday party in the summer, which by the way are stupid expensive compared to 99 cent water-guns, ugh!)
We decided to give this to our son for Christmas this year – see we are slowly adapting to life with a 5 year old and some rules have to be bent just a bit. When reading about The Marshmallow Shooter, I actually had to chuckle realizing that in Stortz & Associates case anyway (the Canadian distributor for The Marshmallow Shooter), they market this for office fun. I’m not sure which office you are working at, but at the one I worked at before having kids the post-menopausal women in the room would not have appreciated marshmallows in their hair! If you do happen to have a fun office environment and can get past the political-correctness of bringing any ‘shooter’ into the workplace, then yeah I can see the opportunity for play here.
The Marshmallow Shooter can shoot marshmallows over 30 feet and can hold up to 20 marshmallows at a time. You have to admit, this is a lot more fun than the awful darts we had growing up, and as Linda from Stortz & Associates points out, the 5 second rule can be extended here and you can eat up the mess (why do I suspect both my husband and son will be doing this?)
I know our family isn’t the only one that is a little ‘iffy’ about any type of shooter or gun as a toy so when purchasing for others, make sure you know the parent’s stance on this (I have donated items we’ve received as gifts when the gift-giver has not checked first, oh yes I did!) If purchasing for adults, go for it but don’t blame me if you get hit in the eyeball with a sticky marshmallow while eating your breakfast Christmas morning!
