Soylar Candles

For the very eco-conscious among us, if you are looking for a company that makes eco friendly candles of course the first criteria is soy as opposed to paraffin because soy is so much more sustainable (not to mention it helps the economy) Soylar Soy Candles are Pesticide, Herbicide & GMO Free from domestic crops grown in the USA.

With many soy candle companies, the story ends there. Soylar Candles, based in Long Beach California is the most eco-conscious candle company I have come across. Owner Irene Guoz, a stay at home mom, saved her baby food jars knowing they would have a craft-worthy purpose. Pursuing her own love of soy candles, Irene started using the baby food jars to pour soy wax into – and a business was created! She now has friends bringing her their own jars to use, further helping to reduce, reuse, and recycle within her community. Further, Irene lives in a solar-powered home! Soylar Candles truly is an inspiring company and one I’m happy to support.

Now, a company can be green all over but is their product worth your purchase? From the awesome products I’ve tried from Soylar Candles the answer from me is a very loud yes!! The candles I tried from Soylar Candles were all medium scented. Since Irene pours them herself, she can tailor them to fit your needs. I was so impressed with the scent throw from a medium scented candle and am very curious to see how much stronger a heavy scented one would be. The 4 oz. baby jar candles are the perfect size for burning in a room – one baby jar candle from Soylar Candles can scent an entire room without a problem. I can burn these when my kids are playing nearby knowing they are not breathing in harsh chemicals (lead free wicks are used of course). I was sent 4oz Baby Jar candles in Grape, Bubblegum, Pearberry and Pina Colada. I was happy with them all but Grape is definitely a favorite and I’ll be back at Soylar candles to purchase more in the new year.

Irene also sent me Soylar Candle’s Soy Body Balm in an adorable plastic baby food jar container (that once held bananas, from the stamp on the side!). I’ve never tried a Soy Body Balm before but based on my first experience I really liked it. Soylar Candles of course offers a huge selection of essential oil or fragrance oil scents to choose from.

Other great products from Soylar Candles that I was able to try are their tealights which can be ordered naked – no container needed since Soylar Candles encourages customers to reuse their tealight containers already in the home. Also check out Massage Candles from Soylar Candles in a perfect tealight candle size.
When I was trying out the products I received from Soylar Candles I kept thinking, “Oh what a cute gift this would be!” Baby Jar Candles in cute recycled jars or Soy Body Balm in recycled baby food containers would look adorable in a little gift basket or bag and gifted to a teacher, friend, babysitter and others. The scent throw (medium in the candles I tested) is fantastic and if you’re unsure of which scent to choose, I’d highly recommend the Grape scent! Yum!
