For toddlers and preschoolers, the Tag and Tag Junior are on many parent’s shopping lists. A friend of mine bought the Tag Junior for both her daughters (smart mama, avoiding the fight over it). In the hustle and bustle of the season I have to admit this slipped my radar but I’m so glad LeapFrog gave me the heads up about this and offered to send one for my daughter and I to review!
The Tag Junior is especially for children ages 2-4. How cool that a reading system is available for 2 year olds, well before they are reading. Thankfully, both my children seemed to have picked up on my love of reading (my husband…not so much) and my son goes to bed nightly with books so he reads until he’s off to dreamland. On the verge of turning 2 years old, my daughter started insisting on taking 1 book with her to bed at night in her crib, how cute is that? She isn’t reading yet but I love that she loves books. The Tag Junior fosters this love of books that toddlers have by bringing the stories to life with the help of the Tag Junior Book Pal, the handheld device that ‘reads’ the words and asks children open ended questions about the book itself. It took only a moment to show my daughter how it worked and she was busy for a solid 20 minutes the first time we checked it out, looking at the book included with the device, “If I were…”
Using the enclosed USB cord, parents can connect the Tag Junior Book Pal to a computer and download the audio for up to 5 books on the device at one time. Additionally, parents can also take a peek at exactly what their little readers are up to and print activities using the LeapFrog Learning Path.Additional books can be purchased wherever LeapFrog products are sold, and there’s no doubt your child will enjoy checking out more of them. The thing is, just 1 book can keep a child busy for a long time (each book has 24 activities and over 150 audio responses). It’s very cute to see my daughter’s response when she discovers something new, that to her wasn’t there the last time she ‘read’ the book.
1 reader is going to win a LeapFrog Tag Junior from the fabulous people at LeapFrog! To enter, take a peek at the other books available for the Tag Junior and tell me which one you would pick for someone special.
