We have a bit of an impasse in our house – my 5 year old loves doing crafts and I’m a mother that hates them. It’s not that I don’t think the end result is cute but I don’t spontaneously come up with ideas and it takes a lot to keep my son interested in the first place. Klutz has a great selection of crafts for children and shared two of them with us this holiday season.
Paper Fashions Fancy is perfect for the budding fashionista (recommended for ages 8 and up). Forget paper dolls, this spiral bound book is full of colorful paper, ribbons, beads, sequins and jewels to help a child create their own custom fashions and accessories. I know I would have loved something like this as a little girl. Note the 20 tiny hangers that come with this set, to display the finished results! Available at Klutz.com for $21.95
My son went nuts for the second item we were sent (the first one is being given to a family member for Christmas). He was busy the entire first morning he received Invasion of the Bristlebots from Klutz. This craft book is recommended for children 8 years and up but my son is only 5 and really enjoyed it. He was able to create different robots using the toothbrush heads and created a soccer field with some of the cardboard pieces included. Just playing with them on the kitchen floor kept him occupied too.Perfect for the holidays to keep kids occupied, crafts from Klutz make great gifts for elementary school aged children.
