How many of you have VHS tapes tucked away but no VCR hooked up anymore to watch them on? I’m among that group. I am also one of those people who has been saying for years, “I really need to get my VHS tapes on to DVDs,” but have just never taken the next step. My excuses reasons? I don’t live in a city so first I’d have to find a store/company that provides the service, then I’d have to trust them with my precious wedding and labor/delivery videos….er….yeah, that is where the thought process always ended. Little did I know that there were companies like honestech out there, that actually sells software for your computer to enable to you to do this all at home!
Of course, you have to ensure your computer has a dvd burner on it. Our desktop doesn’t, so we had to use my laptop which made the process a little slower since I’m always using my laptop for blog work. However, if you have a computer that you can dedicate solely to dvd burning for a few days, there’s no reason why you can’t convert all your VHS tapes to DVD on a weekend. Once you get the hang of transferring your VHS tapes to DVD and Blu-ray, you can also try some of the other creative options like transition effects and more. Something like this would be a huge benefit to friends and family – hey maybe a mama could make some money by offering this as a service!
Other products available from this company include Audio Recorder 2.0 (Standard and Deluxe) which enables you to convert your cassette tapes, LPs, even 8-tracks to CDs, mp3s and more. For those with a creative side, check out Claymation Studio 2.0 from honestech.
I don’t know anyone among my circle of friends who wouldn’t benefit from honetech’s VHS to DVD 4.0 Deluxe – we all have VHS tapes collecting dust. I have just started, but can’t wait to get all my VHS tapes put on to DVD in the new year. Consider purchasing it for yourself, it’s an investment in keeping your memories safe and this way some stranger isn’t going to get an eyeful of your labor and delivery video! 😉
