Oh how we love those gift cards! As much as I like shopping for the perfect gift for my friends and family, because we live away from them all and don’t always get to go ‘home’ for the holidays, I have relied on gift cards to save on the fortune Canada Post has been charging for shipping packages!
The one drawback, in my frugal opinion, about gift cards is that your recipient knows exactly how much you spent. You see, I live for sales, deals and great purchases and when I can find a $100 item on sale for $30 (oh yes it has been done!) and give it as a gift, I feel like a rock star. With gift cards, I don’t get that same frugal shopping high…until now.
CardSwap.ca is an online site that enables Canadians to buy and sell discount gift cards! Yes, discounted! You see, in order to list your non-appropriate gift card that granny got you from a store you will never shop at or a restaurant 4 hours away from your town, you must discount the card by at least 10% of the value. However, if it’s useless sitting on your desk at home you may want to consider discounting it even more for a quick sale and money in your pocket instead.
This, of course, benefits the buyers too….when purchasing a gift card from a store you know your nephew will love, check out CardSwap.ca first and turn your $30 into a $45 gift card purchase – that’s the gingerbread icing of this fabulous program! Happy sellers and happy buyers!
My first question is probably the same as yours – how do we really know that the value the seller says the card has, is really there? Simple – CardSwap.ca verifies this all for you ahead of time. Check out the information from the FAQ section here that explains it all. Recently, CardSwap.ca was featured on CityTV in Toronto, you can check out the report here!
So, before you hide away your unwanted gift card forever, why not give it a shot and sell it at CardSwap.ca as a discount gift card and put some money in your pocket instead. Of course, if you are considering purchasing a gift card this holiday season (or making a purchase from a favorite store for yourself) check out CardSwap.ca first just in case they have a card there that can save you money before you even walk out the door. Me? I’ve got my eye on this Aldo Gift Card for $209.03 currently listed for $180.00. Happy shopping everyone!
