As soon as the weather turns crisp, I pull out even more candles than already have in my house year round. There’s something about the cooler weather that makes me want to burn more candles. Maybe it’s a comfort thing in that the warm glow makes me feel nice and cozy, or maybe it’s just that making my house pretty and smelling nice makes me feel better despite the gloom outside.
Since having children, I’ve made an effort to switch to natural soy candles – it’s been well over a year since I’ve purchased a candle that wasn’t soy based. Why the move?
Natura Soylights lists the reasons here: soot free, made from 100% soy bean wax, burns longer and cooler than paraffin wax, water soluable for easy cleanup, benefits the agriculture industry, renewable resource, environmentally safe, biodegradable and made with 100% cotton core wicks. In basic terms, I choose soy now because it burns longer (more candle for your dollar), it burns cleaner (no black soot, no breathing in manufactured chemical scents), and it smells better (better scent throw).
I was sent a few items from Natura Soylights to try and am convinced. Bottom line here – if a strong scent when burning is what you’re after, Natura Soylights is the place to shop. I was sent 2 packs of Tealights (Apple Crisp and Chai Tea) and 1 Soy Jar in Citrus Creme.
I put 2 of the tealights on a shelf in my kitchen, in preparation for burning later and the scent permeated my kitchen for days – no need to even light them! Once burning, all I needed was just 2 tealights to throw the scent over the main floor and upper level of my house!
The Soy Jars are great because they have a glass lid so you can place them in a room and open the lid when you want to make it smell fabulous (without even lighting the candle). I keep the soy jar in our bedroom and it’s perfect for casually leaving the lid off the candle jar before we do a house showing (tricky me!)
The list of candle scents is nicely organized, but the descriptions will make you want each one!
