Green Is Black (based in Toronto) brings consumers men’s and women’s green clothing, eco clothing, shoes, and accessories right to your door. Previously housed in a building on Yonge Street (I’ve been shopping on this street, oh the hours I could spend on Yonge Street!) Green Is Black has recently transitioned to an online store only. The advantage this company has is of course their regular customers from Younge Street who are familiar with the products available from the designers chosen. The disadvantage is that you are unable to feel the amazing quality that fabrics made with hemp, organic cotton, bamboo, and soy have. That’s where customer word of mouth and marketing comes in.
If you are already familiar with the virtues of hemp, organic cotton, bamboo and soy, Green Is Black is likely a store you’re going to want to check out. Basic tees and yoga pants? Leave that to the others! Green Is Black brings you cutting edge fashion that just happens to be eco-friendly from start to finish as well (the company actually gauges the social and environmental impact of each designer’s wares before deciding on bringing them on board).
I was sent the Hope Top by Revolve to review. When ordering clothing online, of course the first step is determining what size to order. I hate more than anything receiving an item that should fit based on my regular size but doesn’t because of a company’s weird sizing standards (i.e. a size large is really a small for most women). Kerry from Green Is Black assured me that a size medium in the Hope Top would fit perfectly based on my measurements and she was right!
Made with 73% bamboo and 27% organic cotton, this wrap top with hoody is the only wrap top I own. A little flustered to start, I managed to figure it out and now have a fabulous wardrobe addition that can be worn with jeans or capris. The coconut shell buttons at the sleeves are a nice touch and the hoodie at the back finishes off the look (I like what the hoodie does for the neckline, it wouldn’t hang the same without it).
1 of my readers is going to win a Hope Top by Revolve (ARV $96.00 CDN) in the size of their choice (XS, M or L) or an item of equal or lesser value of choice. To enter, just go to Green Is Black and take a look around. Comment back here telling me what your favorite item from the entire site is!
