Wouldn’t It B Nice? (closed)

Wouldn’t it be nice if we all treated eachother with a little more kindness? That’s the basic idea behind Carrie Wittenstein’s philosophy that has gone on to become Wouldn’t It B Nice. The main product on the site, the shirts, are not meant to be the end of story, so to speak. Rather, the shirts are just the beginning – a launch point for inspiration, discussion, and empowerment.

The idea of paying it forward may have gotten more press years ago when a movie of the same title came out but the philosophy is as old as time. When we do something nice for someone else, it makes us feel good and hopefully that person will do something nice as well. Sometimes they won’t. The goal, of course, is to continue putting that good karma, good vibe if you will, out there into the universe.

Does anybody remember an old episode of Friends where Phoebe can’t seem to do a good deed that was pure (i.e. that didn’t in some way reward her or make her feel good)? I loved that episode because it reinforces what’s true – doing good for others makes us feel good. Have you heard about people who, in a drive-through at coffee shops, will pay for the car behind them just because? These stories, as trite as they may sound compared to the big picture out there, are what restore my faith in humanity. We are all good people, even the grouchy lady at the grocery store check-out line. Kindness is universal and if we could all practice it more, we’d all be better off.

Look at me on my soapbox when I’m supposed to be reviewing a shirt! The shirt I chose to review is the “be a voice” one. I thought it was appropriate for me because voicing my opinion, standing up for the underdog and making myself heard is something I’ve done since I was little. It also has a deeper meaning for me now that I’m a mommy. We’re warrior moms (as two of my favorite media personalities have used the term recently, I’m not sure who it belongs to!) and it’s our job to speak for the smallest and most innocent members of our society. Whether it be a medical cause (the original idea behind this shirt was to be a voice for autism) or something important to you as a mom (in my household, we’re all a voice for allergy awareness, protecting our youngest member from food allergies!), being a voice is important.

The front and back of these shirts are printed (so people can have something to think about as you’re walking away too!), and designs in these shirts come in baby and youth sizes as well (onesies and hats, oh my!) My daughter has a “b nice” shirt which is pretty adorable to see on an innocent little one – reminding us all of the basics in human kindness.

1 reader is going to win a great duo – 1 “be a voice” nice fit T or men’s T AND 1 Todder T in either “b a voice”, “b happy” or “b @ peace”. To enter, comment here telling me one thing you have done recently that put some good karma into the universe or how the Wouldn’t It B Nice philosophy has inspired you!
