Hana Mini

Travelling out west earlier this summer in an SUV with the kids, we packed as lightly as we could. That meant a few items had to be left behind including my beauty basics like my blow dryer and flat iron. I figured hotels at least had blow dryers and when we got to our destination out in British Columbia, I was able to borrow my sister in law’s flat iron when I needed it. Had I known about the Hana Mini before I left, I would have been a flat iron guru during my entire trip, with no humidty-stricken pony tails in site!

The Hana Mini is a compact flat iron that is only 5 inches long when not in use. It comes with a tiny (fabulous) bag for easy storage that makes it look like just another make-up bag. When ready to use, the Hana Mini extends to 8 inches (the size of a regular flat iron).

While this would have been very useful to a busy mom like me travelling in the summer, I can see how this would be useful for so many women – business travellers, college students, anyone going away for any extended period of time or who shares space and needs to keep things compact.

The Hana Mini has a fixed temperature setting of 410 F, flash heats in seconds, and is quality made with “Advanced Tourmaline Ceramic Plates for Accelerated Ion Generation and Maximum Frizz-Free, Conditioning Shine”. The Hana Mini also comes with a 2 year warranty.

So, how does this baby perform? I tried the Hana Mini in place of my old flat iron and was happy with the results. The tangle-free cord was a nice feature (my old one tangled up on me and I was constantly pulling on it to get more moving room when doing my hair), and I liked that the cute bag also comes with a fold-out heat proof mat (while you may have the perfect spot at home for a flat iron, your mother in law’s counter top may not be a safe bet).

I actually found that using the Hana Mini made me a little bit neater too – since it was so easy to tuck away once cooled, I put it away in my bathroom closet instead of letting the flat iron lay out on my counter top. Yay me!
