Before reviewing Bumblz products, I had not heard about this cute group of characters before. The target group for this series is children ages 0-6. Young children will appreciate the bright characters and toe-tapping music, and older kids will like the storylines (as will adults). Bumblz is a friendly little bee who, with friends in tow, goes on adventures and along the way learns some valuable life lessons. In thinking about the shows my kids currently watch on tv, I realized that some of them have moved away from the ‘life lessons’ approach and focus more on learning which is okay…but it’s nice to go back to wholesome programming too.
The first DVD, Bumblz Clubhouse Friends, tells the story of Bumblz and his determination to build a clubhouse (after his parents tell him to go play outside because running is not allowed in the house!) Along the way, Bumblz gets discouraged when things don’t go as planned but he meets some friends who offer to help out. The story looks at how we can tackle a problem by looking at it differently, and how helping friends makes everyone win. Pretty basic stuff, but something quite enlightening for a 5 year old!
In the second DVD, Bumblz Pirate Treasure, Bumblz and his friends go in search of a treasure belonging to a pirate named Longbeard. The friends use their imagination and problem solving skills to help them on their adventure. I liked the songs in this dvd the best, and my son is into Pirates (arrrrrghh!) right now so it was perfect.
Bumblz also has 2 CDs for children too – Bumblz Tunes: Songs In The Key of Bee, and Bumblz Tunes: The Bee Sides <---- clever! Bumblz products can be purchased directly from the Bumblz website or from other sites like Amazon. Fans of Bumblz can also purchase Bumblz merchandise (shirts, etc.) from Zazzle!
I think these dvds are not only great for watching at home, but elementary school teachers would appreciate the life lessons approach Bumblz has.
