I have tried really hard, and for the most part succeeded, in not making my children’s birthday parties a huge spectacle. Parents walk a fine line between wanting to make a birthday a very special and memorable event and making a party something that can really break the bank and cause us to pull our hair out.
Lisa Kothari is a party expert who has planned hundreds of parties for children and has now put her expertise together in a book for parents titled, “Dear Peppers and Pollywogs – What Parents Want to Know About Planning Their Kids’ Parities”.
The tips in this book are presented in an easy to read format – it’s a great read when looking for specific advice on how to handle situations that may arise, “What happens when my kid invites 50 guests to his party before the invitation list has even been drawn up?” or parents can read this book ahead of time to avoid many party planning pitfalls before they happen.
The Peppers and Pollywogs site is a great resource for party planning, complete with party ideas (my favorite is the Scooby Doo Scavenger Hunt), printable invitations and giveaways. Definitely check it out for some ideas and inspiration.
