Chances are, if you’ve never actually heard of Sothys, you recognize the brand/logo. I know I instantly did when I was asked to review the brand. Sothys is the brand used in spas everywhere including the few that I have had the privilege of being to (Spa may as well be the name of another planet now that I’m a mom).
Sothys is a permanent brand with obvious staying power – it’s been around since 1946 when it was actually the name of a beauty institute in Paris and its products were only used by a select list of customers. Now, estheticians and spa owners use Sothys as a brand they can count on. They know what they are working with and know the quality is there.
I tried two products from the Aroma-Sothys products for body care. The Aroma-Sothys products contain 100% natural active ingredients – essential oils – for both mind and body. The first product I tried was the Energizing Shower which is a body wash containing eucalyptus, cardamom, nutmeg and neroli essential oils. When using it in the shower, the first thought that came to mind was that I was using a grown up body wash. As much as I love all my fruit or vanilla smelling washes, I realize they do smell like something my kids could probably use and enjoy as well. Sothys Energizing Shower makes me feel like an adult, if only for the 10 minutes of me time I get a day in the shower. My skin was left feeling super soft (I didn’t need to apply any lotion afterwards which was a chance) and smelling great.
The Delicious Scrub (yes, that’s the name of it!) from Sothys is the next item I tried the following day in the shower. I was surprised when I opened the lid and discovered how it looked! Being an item used in spas I expected a creamy luxurious scrub. Then I remembered that yes, spas do mud wraps too, I shouldn’t be looking for something necessarily pretty! The Delicious Scrub looks like a jar of sand found at the beach – same color and same consistency. The consistency is another feature of the scrub that I wasn’t expecting. I have several other body scrubs (and seem to accumulate more in the summer months trying to rid myself of dry skin and get that summer glow) and none of them measure up to the amount of actual scrubbing power Sothys Delicious Scrub has.
This is a good example of the quality of Sothys products – no messing around with pretty lotion-like scrubs, this is the real deal and gets the job done, all while smelling…delicious! The scent of this scrub had me guessing in the shower. What is that? Is that cinnamon? No..wait, it’s…is that ginger? But there’s something citrus smelling too…what IS that? When I got out of the shower and checked the ingredients it all made sense. The Delicious Scrub is made with spices, ginger, nutmeg, orange and mandarin essential oils. Again, I felt like I was using a grown up product and not something for the kiddos too. A little goes a long way with this scrub. I just used what was stuck to the lid of the jar in the shower! I’ll be able to use this for a long time and hopefully have smooth skin for summer. Just like the Energizing Shower, the scent lingers on skin for hours and I had no need to use lotion after my shower.
